Managing Automation: A Pilot’s Guide to Automation, Glass Cockpit Operations, and Human Factors by Matthew James McDermott
Matthew James McDermott
Matthew James McDermott is an instrument-rated private pilot, FAA-certificated Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor, and aviation writer based in Rochester, New York. He writes about automation, glass-cockpit operations, human factors, and the judgment pilots bring to increasingly capable aircraft.
The son of a pilot, Matthew grew up around airplanes and airports. He remains active in aviation through his local Experimental Aircraft Association chapter and Civil Air Patrol. Managing Automation is his first published book.
For all his interest in modern avionics, the airplane he would most like to fly is a Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing.
